Ive Farm Playing Field left derelict!

Ive Farm Playing Field 'abandoned' by Labour
The playing field at Ive Farm were managed by the SCORE complex in Oliver Road.

They went bust and the fields are now in the hands of the Council, but they continue to lie derelict.

Councillor Bob Sullivan has tried to get the Council to allow the local running club to use the field, but the Council says it does not have any money to make the site safe for use. Bob Sullivan said “The Liberal Democrats will continue to push for the field to be made available to local sports clubs.”

Interestingly there is £5.5 million due from the Olympic Authority for closing down Drapers Field but not a penny will go on refurbishing this playing field!!!

Why was this not used for the highly unpopular temporary Olympic basketball training venue that the ODA are trying to get permission for on Leyton Marsh Metropolitan Open Land?

The Liberal Democrats voted against the use of Leyton Marsh. Unfortunately, the Labour councillors voted in favour. It is rumoured that Ive Farm is destined to be used as an Olympic campsite

Dear Sir/Madam, I have been a Leyton Orient supporter for many years.
I used to love our ”old stadium” here at Brisbane Road, but unfortunately, over the years, it has become more like a ”Housing Estate” than a proper football stadium.
I.E. Flats in each corner of the Ground.

Orient’s President Mr Becchetti never bought Leyton Orient’s Ground, only the Club.
I am sure he’s waiting for the right opportunity to move away from Brisbane Road, and build a sutable Stadium elswhere for the benefit of the whole community.
I understand you have suitable land going to waste. Why not contact Becchetti, with a view to seeing if he is interested. You have nothing to lose, and maybe everything to gain. I’m sure if Newham Council can ”bend over backwards” to help West Ham, I’m equally quite sure you could negotiate some kind of deal (however small financially) with Leyton Orient FC.

    Many Thanks
Frank Johnson (supporter for 50 years)

Frank – I could not agree more. Unfortunatley the current plans from the Council is to demolish the Score Centre and transfer the all weather football pitches to the Leyton Playing Fields. This would then bring the playing fields into use.
